About Library as a Resource Centre
  • Shree M. P. Shah Arts & Science College Library is the hub of the College and plays a vital role in supporting, teaching and learning activities, and provides the main source for individual demand since 1956. Library is helping the faculty to keep abreast with the latest developments in their area of activities and to provide information support for regular study and academic activities. At the same time for students Library is a source to get information support for their course curriculum as well as for their self-development.  A well-arranged with latest books and magazines on fiction, non-fiction, Biographies, Personality Development, Core subject books and Competitive Exams Material.
  • Library has a rich collection of different subject like History, Political Science, Economics, Philosophy, Psychology, English, Hindi, Sanskrit, Gujarati, Physics, Chemistry, Maths, Botany and General Books.
Aims and objectives of  library

→ To help in all educational and instructional programs of the college.

→ To develops a habit of deep of and advanced studies of subjects  beyond the text books of subjects in students. 

→ To enhances the understanding of different subjects or disciplines among the students.

Library Opening – Closing Timing

→ 09:30 am – 05 : 30 pm (Monday to Friday)

 8:00 am – 01:00 pm (Saturday)

The library is closed on Sundays and all public holidays
Library Rules and regulations
  1. All users must observe total silence in the library and its environs at all times
  2. All users are required to show their college IDs to the library staff.
  3. Use of mobile phones is strictly prohibited in the library
  4. All bags, cases, folders etc. must be left in the luggage area in the library.
  5. Users are not allowed to leave their baggage overnight in the library. The library shall not take any responsibility for loss of personal property or books already signed out to a user
  6. Users are not allowed to log in using their personal passwords at the search computers or to access the internet from there.
  7. No student is allowed to enter the circulation area without the consent of the library staff
  8. Anyone caught marking, defacing or mutilating books or any other library material will be expected to pay for the material with the most current edition of the same
  9. Group discussions are only allowed in the library
  10. Use of sound equipments like radios, walkmans, cell phones etc. is strictly prohibited in the library.
  11. No library equipment may be moved, modified or tampered with without permission from the librarian
BORROWING PROCEDURE
1. Borrowing period is strictly between 10:00 am to 05:00 pm on weekdays and 8:30 am to 12:30 pm on Saturdays2. A user must be a registered student in the current term to be able to use the library services3. All students must present their college ID before borrowing any library materials4. Library materials may not be removed from the library unless the library staff has properly issued them out5. Students are allowed to borrow Three  books  for a period of two weeks6. All borrowed materials must be returned on or before the due date7. Students are not allowed to borrow books on behalf of others or transfer borrowed materials to other students8. All reserve materials must be returned at the specified time

·         Journals and magazines

·         Pen Drive

DAMAGE/ LOSS OF LIBRARY MATERIALS

·   All users will be held responsible for any damage or loss of library materials in their possession and will be required to meet the cost of replacement and processing

·         Lost books must be reported to the librarian immediately and replaced or paid for within 30 days

·         Lost library books that are recovered, must be handed to the librarian as they remain the property of the college library

OVERDUE CHARGES/ FINES

·         General collection books not return before due date 1 Re. per day fines.

EXCLUSION FROM THE USE OF THE LIBRARY

·         The library committee shall have the power to suspend or exclude from use of the library any user who disregards the library rules and regulations

·         The library staff have the right to ask students to leave the library if they are behaving inappropriately or causing disturbance to other users

Library Automation

Library use a Soul 2.0 software

 Software for University Libraries (SOUL) is an state-of-the-art integrated library management software designed and developed by the INFLIBNET Centre based on requirements of college and university libraries. It is a user-friendly software developed to work under client-server environment. The software is compliant to international standards for bibliographic formats, networking and circulation protocols.

The Project entitled "National Library and Information Services Infrastructure for Scholarly Content (N-LIST)", was jointly executed by the e-ShodhSindhu Consortium, INFLIBNET Centre and the INDEST-AICTE Consortium, IIT Delhi provides for i) cross-subscription to e-resources subscribed by the two Consortia, i.e. subscription to INDEST-AICTE resources for universities and e-ShodhSindhu resources for technical institutions; and ii) access to selected e-resources to colleges. The N-LIST project provides access to e-resources to students, researchers and faculty from colleges and other beneficiary institutions through server(s) installed at the INFLIBNET Centre. The authorized users from colleges can now access e-resources and download articles required by them directly from the publisher's website once they are duly authenticated as authorized users through servers deployed at the INFLIBNET Centre.
